We have our first order of BabyHawks on their way! These are really cool baby carriers.

Even Sean “Diddy” Combs likes them. Here’s a note that he sent to the maker of BabyHawk. (I still think of him as Puff Daddy, I guess that dates me!)

Little Girls Make the Best Cookies!

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

I’m sitting here in the shop eating the most delicious home-made cookies. I can hardly believe it.

I’m usually terrible at baking cookies. They always turn out dry and crunchy, and I’ve come to accept that I’m better off buying them from the grocery store bakery.

But then the other day I promised my daughter that we would bake cookies on my day off, which we call mommy-daughter day. She is 2 years old, will be 3 in August, and her friend who is 4 came over to help too.

The three of us made a new recipe that I found online for oatmeal-chocolate chip cookies. The girls helped pour ingredients and mix them up. They must have done something magical, because three days later, my cookies are still moist and chewy and very delicious!! Next time I need some baking done, I know who to ask to help out!

A local blog reporter’s take on our new shop!

Check out this Windsor Star Blog posting about Sweetheart Diapers & More!

You never know who you’ll meet!

Brent (my husband) was working at the store this weekend. It was Sunday and we were closed, and Brent was doing chores at the store, like installing our new phone, putting some finishing touches on some furniture, etc.

Don McArthur, who blogs for the Windsor Star, happened to be walking by with his baby while Brent was outside hanging our banner outside! (our “real” sign is still on it’s way) Don and Brent started chatting, and next thing you know,  he decided to blog about Sweetheart Diapers & More!  AND while he was there, he even bought a super cute UV sun hat for his baby!

Store opening update

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

I just wanted to let you know that our store in Windsor is opening SOON!

Originally we were aiming for June 1st, which is today. That definitely didn’t happen. It didn’t help that I went to England for two weeks less than a month ago, then I came back and thought I could open in just two weeks! I’ve never opened a store before, so what did I know? It was quite unrealistic of me to create that sort of time line. BUT we are REALLY close!

The main things I’m waiting for now are the insurance and the internet and phone hook-up. I can’t operate without internet, because without a debit and credit card machine, how can you come and spend all your money on all the cute baby products at my store? I’ve been told these things should be in place for Friday. Soooo, I’m really hoping for Friday! But don’t quote me on that!

I will post the exact opening day on here, on the home page, on my facebook page (which you should join if you haven’t yet!, and I will send out an E-Newsletter (which you should also join if you haven’t yet!)

So stay tuned!
