BecoPotty Eco-Friendly Potty

Thursday, January 27th, 2011

This is the coolest potty, I love showing it to people when they come into the store.

The beco potty is an eco-friendly potty that is made out of plant waste and is completely biodegradable.

It is made out of bamboo and rice husks and is molded with a resin that makes it hard so it looks and feels just like plastic.
BUT…
When you no longer need it, simply plant it in the garden and it will biodegrade in just a few years!

Isn’t that amazing?
Plus they are only $15.99

It is available in natural, blue, and pink.

Potty Training: The Cloth Solution

Friday, April 16th, 2010

If you have children who are potty training right now or are about to start, this is for you!

Even if you’ve never used cloth diapers before, now might be a great time to consider your choices. If your child is used to disposables, this sudden feeling of being wet can be very effective! A couple of facts about cloth training pants:

-easy pull-up style, with comfortable elastic around legs and waist

-soft cotton against baby’s skin, with a waterproof outer layer

-diaper feels wet when baby has an “accident”, which helps to understand the feelings of having to “go”

-they are thin (not as bulky as a regular cloth diaper)

-machine washable, dryer safe or hang to dry

In my house, we’ve had a great experience using cloth training pants on our daughter. After trying on a couple of different brands for fit, we chose to go with Mother-ease.  For 5 pairs, at $13.50 each plus GST, our investment came to $70.88. She wears underpants around the house, and we use the training pants whenever we go out in the car, to someone’s house, and at the babysitter’s. (Toddlers easily get distracted and forget that they have to “go”!) This way we don’t have to worry about accidents on someone else’s carpet! We’ve been using the training pants now for 8 months, making the initial $70 investment for the training pants so worth it! I can’t imagine how much we would have spent by now if we had been using disposable pull-ups this whole time. And I plan on using them again for other children. Depending on how often she has an accident, with 5 pairs I only have to wash them once every 3-5 days, so it’s hardly any work (and I never have to worry about running out!)

Sizing is based on weight, and you can get plain white or cute prints that toddlers love. I carry a couple of different styles of training pants at Sweetheart Diapers & More. You can view them at http://www.sweetheartdiapers.com/products/type/Potty-Training.
