I had to fold up a receiving blanket inside a cover once. It worked pretty well. There are other good ideas on this site: http://clothdiapers.blogspot.com/2011/04/almost-free-diapers-how-to-diaper-your.html

It surprises me even more that most of the complaining done about breatfeeding in public seems to come from women. Shame on them!

You really are lucky! I may get the year off, but once the 1 yr mark hits I have to leave my baby with strangers!

I'm bed-sharing with our 6 weeks old baby boy. I used the bassinet for a week. After a few days, I would wake up at night with the baby in bed with me, not knowing how he got there. I decided at that time I should have him sleep in bed with me instead, that it would be safer that way. I love having him sleep beside me. He wakes up less and I sleep better.

You do have a pretty sweet job, getting to bring the babes to work and working at a diaper store! That's like my dream job! I've been in to Sweethearts only a handful of times since I recently moved to Windsor and you all are doing a great job! I love seeing the little kiddos in there when I stop by!

I think cloth diapers are advantageous to use. With all those troubles that mommies get with the disposable ones, I think they will really choose cloth diapers. :D

Nicely written Margaret. You're store offers so much variety in cloth diapers it's hard not to get excited about cloth diapering.

I did the same as you - had a hospital birth with epidural (after 18 hours of back labour!) and OB for my firstborn, and planned a hospital birth with a midwife the second time around. My son had other plans, and ended up being an unplanned home birth - luckily my doula and midwife were there. Even though my son ended up being born at home, I was so much happier with my experience with the midwife. I loved the personalized care.

Good luck to you!

The Hazelwood necklace sounds very interesting, and I think anytime we can find natural products to help with common ailments, the better. My children are too old for it but I will tell my pregnant friends to check into it. Sounds like a great product, and thank you for the information.

If your newborn is on a breastmilk-only diet, the poop is water soluble and doesn't need to be rinsed out. Otherwise, to deal with all the poops, get a diaper sprayer to hook up to your toilet or use flushable bio-soft liners.
